electric assist bike cart combo... help?

i'm making an electric assist bike cart coimbo thing with my dad, and i have an old electric lawnmower motor and an old bike and two sets of wheels. basing ot off this design kinda http://www.popsci.com/diy/article/2012-08/you-built-what-electric-assist-chopper-style-bicycle i need help on how to mount the motor and do the chains and stuff... cuz i want it dual powered, able to pedal or just sit back and let the motor do the work. what kind of battery should i get? all that stuff. any info is helpful.

i found that just using a dimmer switch works just as well as a speed control as long as i'm on ac. so a trickle dc ac converter with a dimmer for cost effectiveness... what size battery should i get?

i want an assisted operation bike so i need to be able to pedal as well as ride with the motor. does anyone know a way i can do that on one wheel? double ratchet systems or something?

alright man what u need to do is look at the sticky threads on electric projects. that may give u a good idea of what u are looking for. hope it helps
