Well, free, yes.. easy to use?
Any mildly sophisticated graphics software needs at least SOME practice to use;
even moreso if what you want to draw needs to be precise.
So, there is indeed a Software called
FreeCAD (which obviously needs to be named first regarding your question)
haven't played with it much, but from what I can tell, it's powerfull enough for nearly any task, and unfortunately it needs more than a day of practice to get down to it's potential
OpenSCAD is based more on actual 3d modelling;
all designing is done by text (more like a programming language than actual text but pretty straight forward)
awkward to use d at first but with the cheatsheet handy, quite easy to use.
personally I love
blender (totally different breed) actually a full grown 3d animator, but it produces very nice renderings, and is as accurate as a CAD tool (but not made for that)
total pain to use sometimes...
I used it a lot and got quite good at it (basically all has to be done in keyboard shortcuts if you don't like to click through countless menus) haven't used it in a year or so...
and whaddya say.. I'm back at square one and cannot produce a simple cube without checking with a cheatsheet .. (yeah that needs a lot of practice but progress is fast and the result is great)
For what you're up to... FreeCAD I'd say is the weapon of choice.
(it even allows you to import Jonas' files
