there are starters out there, but keep in mind that the kart must be started jacked up when using a starter, otherwise it'll rip the starter nut off violently since it's rushing off as soon as it runs.

push start is the more convenient way, requires as many people (two.. it's always two ;) or three weaklings that is :lolgoku:)
but less gear (no jackstand, no electric staarter)

PS if you want to go fancy... there is(was?) a starter platform (basically a reverse dyno) IIRC.. but for that kind of money you could easily pay a whole crew of push starters that can also double as servants where necessary :D

Honestly unless you racing them... On a track... Why bother... Too much hassle... Get a clutch...

i do.. i race them... on open practice day with friends

that's not what mckutzy was trying to say..

open race day with friends does not exactly read as "strict rules that require direct driven karts"

sooo still no reason to NOT get a clutch ;)

These are the reasons of why there's a spec racing of this discipline ... You need a team to race the vehicle.

anyone know where I can get the compression fitting brake line? my nylon brake line broke off.. and I need a new one. Comet kart sale only the nylon and fitting separately, so does anyone know where I can get the nylon brake line with the fitting already install or show me how to do it?

No clutch

Years ago I worked at a kart track as a mechanic, the owner had a kart that he raced, two chain saw motors DD, to start it person got on the kart, filliped the toggle switch that was used for kill switch, on the back of the kart was a length of tubing bent up from the frame with a 90* bend facing to the back with a bicycle hand grip on it, a second person would pick the kart up with the hand grip run forward with it and drop it to start it. Worked good ....as long as you had someone that was strong enough to pick it up and run with. The only time I have ever seen the logic behind not having a way to disconnect the motor from the drive train was in the outlaw sprint cars that I crewed on in the 80s and 90s, they were push started with a truck. I agree with what others on this post have said .... you really need a clutch, would make life much easier.....
