I bought an old 2 seater dingo a while back that needed some work. After getting it working my kids complained that it was very hard to steer. I came up with this idea and it has worked very well, kids love driving it now. 2:1 ratio with the sprockets.(9 and 18 tooth #40).

Adding a muscle bound chauffeur makes it pretty effortless

Don't worry...we like to jack with people here, but have an uncanny record of delivering the proper answer.

I will tell you something else ; we're pretty good with life issues as well....and don't mind it a bit....( Welcome to the asylum!)

Wow that's awesome! It makes it more like a car steering wheel, because you actually turn it more than 90 degrees each way. I may use something like that for my kart.

I think I'd opted for a rack and pinion steering instead, but that'd work too I guess ...

After looking at all the DIY mods on this site, I have to say. Well done mate. We need more "out of the box" thinking like this. Yes a R&P would be better but...WOW, 2 to 1 on a simple mod, that only took a few hours to implement. Maybe you should have patented it before posting, I see a Chinese version in a store near you before you know it. This is American DIY at its best.

VERY 'out of the box" thinking!! I'm new to this karting but have worked on aircraft for 30 years and I gotta say you really did a good job on coming up with a solution. I'm going to copy your idea on one of my builds. Thanks for sharing.
