E-Go Kart battery and motor question

HI guys,
I want to build go kart, but electric one. I read every post and everything. I know how to calculate everything, like run time (example. 10ah battery is 10amps per hour, if our motor needs 16amps (800w / 48v = 16) then i buy two for full hour of drive or one for half), but my question is can this all fit and how much of hours of ride will I get from this.

Unfortunately, no one can ever tell;
And I mean NOBODY!

And here's why: you can calculate the maximum amount of time at the maximum load, and you already did that.

But driving around is not max load all the time, sometimes you just roll down a hill, you cruise at low speed or whatever.. that's considerably less load...
you can test that, and the next day it'll be similar but not identical.

You don't run your vehicle in a lab, so all you can calculate are the extremes;
your real world values will be different!
(and even different depending on your weight, the ambient temperature, road conditions etc...)

So, get a battery that will guarantee what you really need to cover.
The rest is a matter of experience and average measurements.

it is next to impossible for anyone to say how much runtime you will get. Someone with the same motor, same batteries and same gearing could tell you their runtime...but as itsid was saying there are many other factors that will effect runtime. The weight of the kart, the weight of the driver, if the ground is level or has elevation changes. Even grass verses pavement will change runtime as it effects drag. My son has a razor kart, it goes 12mph on pavement but looses 3-4mph when on short grass. That extra load on the motor will cause more drain on the batteries.
Driving style would effect things as well...as electric motors draw more amps when you first turn them on. So lots of stop and go driving might shorten runtimes.

Basically, get the largest capacity batteries you can afford (as long as they are not too heavy or too big for the size of your kart)

I think so.. I can't see any flaw at least...
motor (according to diagram) draws less than 30 AMps, the 50 Amp controller is just in the correct ballpark then, and the batpack..
well it'll work for a short time , it's expensive but convenient.. your call, not mine ;)

Personally, I'd rather get small car batteries or mid to large motorcycle cells (more AHs at lower costs) ut that's just me ;)
