picture update

okay ive got pictures of both cams timing dot and the crank timing dots and how all the gears fit together. since the cranks dots are in the same place and the cams go oposite ends i assume u line up the crand and one cam then rotate the crank to line up the other cam, thanks for the help

have you tried looking at the 'shop manual' or 'service manual' or 'technicians manual' for that engine? Just a thought. I haven't checked into it, but I assume there would be one out there in the inter webs somewhere.

Top pic, right hand side- On the left, counterbalance shaft. Center is the crankshaft, on the right is the cam. Your valve timing is created by having the crank and cam lined up correctly.

If one or more of those shafts has been removed or fallen out of place, you won't get them all aligned simply by turning- you'll have to remove one or more again. Try removing the camshaft, and turning the crank until the piston is at TDC. Then, reinstall the camshaft with the dots aligned. You might have to pull the countershaft and do the same. When you're done, be sure to pull the rocker cover, and check that the rockers are still on the pushrods.
