I just got this airfilter however the bolts are too short to bolt on the aluminum piece.:mad2: Anyone know of longer bolts that I can use?

I called the seller of this airfilter kit and the tech guy wasnt in, supposed to call me back..

If the existing studs aren't Locktited in, then figure out what length you actually need, and take one of them with you to the hardware store. I can just about garenty that they are metric, but you shouldn't have much trouble matching up longer bolts and/or threaded rod to make longer studs with....

The big thing is to match the size and thread pitch exactly, otherwise you'll damage the threaded holes in the cylinder head, which causes automatic warranty failure, as well as other less than wonderful thing's...... :surrender: :ack2:

Loc-tite or not, they can be easily removed.

That depends entirely on the grade of Loctite; if its a service removable grade, you're correct. If its a high strength/high temperature grade, you'll need an oxy/act torch to generate the heat to break the bond down. Without that, you'll most likely come away with the thread's as well.

Never make blanket statements about industrial fastening systems when they use chemical thread locking compounds; I routinely use some of the higher strength types at work. When the gang on the shop floor break certain pieces/part's off, its easier for me to make the replacement from scratch than it is to try to deal with the locking compounds......

Problem is one of the bolts is tapered along the shaft. The threaded end is thicker for about 1 1/2" an it tapers down for the rest of the bolt. see pic-

I ended up just putting the aluminum adapter in my drill press and then drilling it out with a 1/2" bit about halfway down the hole. That would have worked if I could have got a 10mm socket around it but there wasnt enough cleareance. Getting tired of messing with it I just got out my angle grinder and went after it...

I cleaned it up the edges after this pic so its really a little better looking, but not much. But it works~~~

Another problem I have now-
If you look at the top pic, right in the center you will see a black dot. That where the choke handle/lever was at. It broke off, so I thought I will just super glue it back on. I just used a little tiny drop of superglue but it ended up glueing the choke wide open. I was able to break it back off and drill the black plastic down just a tad so that the choke is loose again. But now I have no control of the choke.

I have to take off the filter close the choke with my finger, start it up, let it run awhile, then put the filter back on. Complete pain in the donkey....
