Duro Max 7.0 on a Thunder kart

I have a old Thunder Kart two seat and just bought a 7.0 electric start Duro Max engine, new clutch and chain, and throttle cable. trying to think if i need anything else.

Has anyone used this combination? What would the top speed be? Approximately? How good is the Duro Max engine? i like the novelty of the electric start.

Top speed is dependent on gearing, but you should be able to get 25-30mph with a centrifugal clutch. I can't speak to the quality of that specific motor as i have never owned one.

Love mine ... Carb gave me issues early on but i think that was because of lack of maintenance by previous owner. That being said some clone parts aren't interchangeable.
If you are going to mod it i would stick with stage one on this motor .
I hit 38-40 mph with gov. Removed and stage 1 mods on 11 in tires (tyres) with a c.c.

I was also looking at this engine, and am trying to decide between the Duromax and the Lifan. Did you have any difficulty hooking up a throttle kit? The Lifan's valve cover design is slightly different, so I don't know if a clone throttle kit would bolt up.

Just mounted the engine with a new clutch and chain. working on the throttle cable now. and seat.
