I personally believe that breaking in an engine is pure BS.
Every engine I have rebuilt/restored has been immediately put back into service.
Changing the oil at an early stage makes the most sense.

i guess i overlooked the fact that engine break-in may not even be necessary so thank you. what about the list i have going so far though? are the parts and mods i doing worth my time or should it be spent else where?

if i installed an upgraded camshaft would i have to upgrade other parts as well to compensate for the extra stress?

I'm not an expert but what I was told/learned was on new car engines or old engines that got honed and new ring must have a break-in time at mid throttle with no load because the rings need to seat with the cylinder walls so they don't spin and have the gap of the rings line up and let oil pass.

But hey I really don't know if thats true and even if it's not it's still good to run it that way and just listen for anything out off the normal before putting a load on it.
