Ladies and Gents,

First the disclaimer, I'm a motorcycle guy. This is our (son and I) first kart project. So here's the story....

My son and I were driving somewhere on an errand and saw somebody taking a box of parts and a kart chassis with loose and wobbly tires (no bearings mind you) to the corner on trash day. The engine was in another box as the homeowner was cleaning the garage of the stuff. Of course we stopped, took a quick look and grabbed it all before the scrappers picked it up.

Now we are trying to piece it together. We had a bigger honda engine laying around and it fits on the chassis but need a drive train, tires, brakes and a smaller steering wheel. My son is 21 and even though he is a little shorter than I am, still cant fit in there too well. From the ID plate it's a Sears product. I'll have to try and make out the serial or model number. I'm sure that will go a l long way in picking out the right parts.

Looks like you have an EXCELLENT start! The old engine looks like a Tecumseh flathead based OHV engine(basically Tecumseh took the old flathead design, and slapped a new valvetrain and cylinder head to keep up until they made a dedicated OHV).
The frame looks really solid! Nice paint, too!

Nice kart.. sears maybe but made by Manco (it's a Manco 400)

IDK if sears swapped engine and/or wheels or if those have been swapped by PO.

Awesome, Just what I needed to get going. Going to take to time to clean up but I have a pretty good sized bead blast cabinet for the wheels. tires I can find. Bearings will have to be sourced.
