Define "dryer".

If you're referring to a clothes dryer then, no; how will you power it? ie: how long is your longest power cord?

Well..... I have one of those battery powered hand-held personal cooling fans.....so I was thinking that would be perfect. ... (no wiring needed)...don't really think it will push the kart too fast......but.....while I'm making those broom broom Croatian downhill noises with the other end of my body....it might push the stink away.......:ack2::rolleyes:

Well, the thing I really never seem to get is
that sometimes there's a rush in questions like this.. and then as quickly they pop up they're all gone for a good amount of time
No one asking, no previous asker bothered to check back.. nothing.
; until the next rush... ODD!

All of the questions go like this:

I have a motor from a XXX (place AC device name here)
can I power a Kart with that?

and that's it..
nothing about the type of motor not even the exact Make and Model of the random AC device you throw at us.

So... the only omnipotent answer in this universe applies...
NO!

If you do not know what it is, and do not feel like investigating what it is, why should we care?
Why in the name of all the green Muppets should we do the research if you're not willing to?

And not just that, but one is AC and the other is DC. You could, if you were determined to use that dryer motor, run a couple of deep cycle marine batteries and an inverter to convert 12vdc to 120vac, then you'd probably want a frequency drive to be able to throttle the motor, and some sort of linkage to go from a foot pedal to the freq drive…
Cheaper and easier to buy a gas engine and clutch.

I thought at first that he was mixed up, and wanting to use an old Maytag washer hit/miss engine... Then he asks if he can power it with a car battery. :)

Ya, my first thought he had one of those old Briggs/maytag kickstart washer motors, but the drier wasnt invented till long after they stopped using gasoline powered washing machines.

And not to mention..... I think most if not all driers are powered 220vac anyways. Big 'ol long extension cord.

And then he would need beat. I was about as dumb when I was younger and wanted to put one on a mini bike (must have been the kick starter) Then I knew better and am glad I didn't. I still have that engine. It was my grandmas from her washing machine. Kick start 2 cylinder 2 stroke.

'Dumb' is relative. I'm probably older than you are, and I still think it would be cool as heck to mount one to a bicycle. Would it go fast, or be practical? Not at all. Would it be cool, and an attention getter? Absolutely.

You should sell it to me since you aren't going to do anything with it except let it rust and seize up. Which would be a waste.

If I ever do this, I will most likely implement a hand-lever type tensioning clutch, and use a belt. The rear pulley would have to be pretty big, but I'm thinking a reinforced bicycle rim mounted to the rear rim would work dandy as a drive pulley.
