I have my driving test next week to get my license. I heard 50% of people fail it. I'm a little nervous. Any tips? How did your test go?

just remember, you get points for putting down your name, and just remember the basics, remember what to do if a street light fails, what side of the road to stay on and what the lines on the road mean, and im getting to take my test in about 10 months

I failed the first time. The lady calmly said "stop here". After I came to a gentle hault, she informed me that I had just failed the "quick stop" part of the test:mad2: Then she proceeded to be a :censored: when we got back to the DMV(long story). Dad emailed the regional DMV manager, I got a scheduled test with a really cool guy, and passed easily.

Just practice the stuff they want you to do. If you have to parallel park, drive around town parking in all the parallel parking spots.

just joking here, but no, take it, get way drunk before your picture so then when they take your picture, you look normal, so then when your out driving drunk they think thats how you normally look, but on a serious note just dont stress to much.,

My test consisted of a couple trips around the block of the DMV, no parallel parking at all.
Just stay relaxed and pay attention, and you'll be fine.

If you have to tell someone this, they should NEVER be allowed to drive, EVER.

Unless of course they previously lived in the UK, but thats not the case here.

:iagree:

He could have it worse; the driving test to get a CDL is 10x harder than for your basic operator license. You are allowed 2 points on the walk around inspection, and/or 2 points on the drive, 3 total overall.:ack2: And I wasn't even testing out for air brakes!!

My test went fine. I got my license 4 years ago from last month. I noticed some places have a written and driving part of the test. Mine was just driving, permit was only written.

It's pretty easy as long as youve practiced. I was really nervous before hand, but it's fairly easy. 50% failure rate? I never heard of that before.

So, is it strange I didnt want to drive home after getting my permit?

Not really. The road that our DMV is on has so much traffic, my dad didnt want me driving on it:toetap05:

just practice before you go....that is, if the rents will let you go.

I drove to my driver's ed class everday....so it was easy for me.

Tip? Don't crash. J/K- stay cool.

Don't worry too much. I failed my first time out. I got tripped up by a jerk instructor, too. Sometime, you just get the wrong guy.

Now my second test- that was interesting! Right after starting off, it starting raining so hard, you couldn't see 20 feet in front of the car. You know the kind- when the wipers on "high" do exactly as much as the wipers on "off". Had a couple of close calls during the test, people not paying due attention and threatening to trade paint with me.

At the end of it all, he says, "I'm docking you a point for driving too fast for conditions." I was ready to freak. I drove the posted speed limit!!! When I was about to open my mouth and insult the guy's heritage all the way back to walking fish, he says, "but I'm awarding you bonus points for avoiding two accidents. Congratulations."

*phew* That's better!

Just keep your head on straight.

I practiced parallel parking today and I think I got it down. They give you 6 feet more than the length of your vehicle. Plus, for the parking they give you the opportunity to get 6 errors before failing.

I just hope I get a good examiner and he doesn't dock me for every little thing. I also have to make a very conscious effort to keep to hands on the wheel, as I have a tendency for just one. The only other thing is making sure I go under the yellow suggested speed limit signs that everyone ignores.
