Merry Christmas guys.
So this year my parents got me a torque converter setup .
The only problem is that instead of it being a 7" driven which is what I got the oem comet one, the new is a 6" driven. Will this cause issues? Thanks

Well I searched some more and found a thread where the main difference was the ratio inside driven and that it will have more top end than low end. Which is fine with me, I just dont want to throw off my setup. And yeah my bad , i didnt finish my reply .

Please check the chart. This will change the belt you'll need.

Are you attempting to say you had a torque converter set-up before? Please let me know what is wrong with yours, rarely do they go bad.

That's fine as long as it doesn't stress the belt...

Just to clarify, you won't have more top end than you do now but, you will have less bottom end...

No Tony, I'm afraid that's not true..
he will always gain top end reducing the driven diameter.
at least for a comet series 20, 30, 40 or 500
the smaller driven always adds top end

since it's 6" instead of 7" chances are it's a series 30
in which case it's more than 24% gain in top end (1.12:1 vs 0.9:1)

the only question is, will the chain ratio allow the engine to reach it ?!
So better crosscheck your sprocket ratios again.

Well it came with a the correct belt as a kit. Also my driver and driven were shot, first I already did a rebuilt of both the springs on the driver and the buttons and spring on the driven. Both failed later. The driver was unbalanced and bent the springs prematurely. (Blue springs). the driven rubbed the belt in too much to where it got stuck and chalked the wheels. And yes I had the 30 series setup oem with my yerf dog 3203. I followed the advice given here on forum to replace my parts when they were broken and worked for awhile but am tured of fixing parts.

Can y'all tell me how to install the backplate ? I want it only to have the dust shield cover installed. Or is there is another way to have cover ?

nah that's the driven alright..

well nick, if you want to keep the jackshaft mount, you cannot use the backplate
nor the belt I assume (since I doubt the C2C distance will match)

So you should use the backplate, in which case you need to get rid of the jackshaft plate,
or at least the actual shaft to not interfere with the backplate.
then install it (pick four of those 24 holes you see and bolt it to the crankcase)

but I think you'll need to add a few links to your chain to make it match the new sprocket distance..
still cheaper than buying a new belt ;)
