Been seeing these Murray karts lately on the sale sites and began looking for one. Made a quick Facebook post and had a person say there was one in their garage I was welcome to for free. Well, turns out its in GREAT shape as far as the frame goes. Had the frame, tires (replacing), rims, brake drum and seats. Aside from that, its a find the rest kind of deal.

Started the breakdown today, and started stripping the faded black finish for some fresh new powder coat.

Picts are as I received it.

Had a stumbling stone when it came to the axle. Cannot find a stock replacement, so after contacting BMI again, turns out I need to get a custom grind for this thing. Ordered a 1" solid axle and gave them the proper dimensions for step-downs to .75", keyways and thread length...even the thread type. Until that arrives, I'm able to strip the old paint, powder coat the frame and rims...and replace the tires. Going with a brighter glossy blue with black roll bars.

Strange setup with this tube welded as part of the frame. Two 1.75 OD bearings support the .75 shaft. Stepped down portion of the 1" axle I ordered will start prior to the bearing.

Yeah, very weird setup. Was considering cutting off and installing hangers for a typical set up, but the cost would be significantly higher than it would be for the custom axle I ordered

Location
where the GO Kart paths are a plenty
I sent you an email but in case you can help I have the same Kart I just picked up also with a broken axle. I'm not sure how to measure it correctly and had seen a similar one on BMI.
If I can get your order number maybe I can just call them and get the right part.

My axle broke off at the right end as my pics show on my post. Did you use the same rims and just drill a hole through the old rims? thanks d
