Done with band brakes need alternative

Alright that looks pretty easy. I just need to get a metal rod, cut it to size weld it and drill a hole for the cotter pin. I hope my Flux welder is up to the task. Thanks everyone for the great information. Without this forum I'd be screwed!

Id drill first, then weld...... Make sure you mock it up right, with all the parts before you weld it together...

Your type of welder will do fine.... just grind the base and the rod to clean it up well. It needs to be clean and dirt free as possible.

Well I don't have the brake problem anymore because I'm afraid the whole back end of the kart broke (see photo). The amazing thing is that the welds didn't brake it , the pipe sheered! I am looking into cutting the back end off and installing a swing arm setup in the back which would give me rear supespention. Looking into getting this swing arm :

I think all it would entail is cutting the back end off. Welding a pipe across then welding hinges to said pipe. I would alsl have to weld upper shock brackets.

Jeeze!!!! For the umpteenth time!!!!! BRAKES are for stopping... BREAKS are what happen...

(In all honesty though...this is the FIRST time I remember seeing brake where break should be.)

And he just didn't catch it...he knows better...but...if I can't pick on SOMEBODY....I'm just not happy....

I'm going to blame that one on auto correct? I'm looking forward to this build will probably make a separate thread on it. The problem with my kart is that it's a yard kart being treated like a off road kart.rear suspension should relieve the back end and stop the pos from snapping.
