does Tuned Fresh Air Intake increase go kart power?

So i did some experimenting with some parts i had laying around under the work bench.. Came up with great fresh air intake since my current one was still allowing some dirt to accumulate inside on the carb pretty bad..

Its a cold air intake from my old car.. sounds F**uking awesome too.. thing is after doing some work to get that thing mounted up and started it up again just after driving it around in the cul de sac.. it would'nt idle.. it was too lean and it was cutting out on throttle up.. so i broke out my jetting kit and went to work.. Fires up and runs great with big jets.

I have been wanting my go kart to drift for the LONGEST... tell me why after doing this stupid crap it it DRIFTS??? i cant say if it added more power or not by numbers.. but it gets sideways on Asphalt

I know its no Snorkel because you cant run these engines underwater but it sucks much cleaner air up high than down behind the big tires on trails.... gotta get a vid up soon of some donuts LOL

got some Rain, i will be definitely posting a power-sliding video today on YouTube and sharing a link.

now i'm a little reluctant to swap in the 2 stroke build i have been working on for past couple weeks.

what would you guys run?

the Predator 420cc 4 stroke?
or Arctic Cat 440cc 2 Stroke?

4 words for you: mix gas, haul azz.

But I'm a little biased because I am a huge 2 stroke fan. They sound and smell way cooler IMO.

Yeah. Those look like cheap enough tires to go ripping the crap out of.

Thats what im thinking.. but the 4 stroke is sooo reliable and in the backwoods trying to start a stubborn 2 stroke can ruin your day

Nd don't worry that's good excuse for upgrades when I tell the wife how I " went through a set of tires teaching the kids how to drive" LOL

Once the 440cc 2 stroke is starting up reliably after some more work and tuning I'm going to be doing that engine swap..

It's also bored and stroke with billet internals.. guy said it revved up to 12k before he parked it garage then moved on to new projects..

So far I've had to replace everything on the engine.. it's screams but waiting on new crankshaft seals for crankcase vacuum leak
