Does anyone suggest against this?

We have been having problems with tearing the rubber engine shock absorbers, or I call them motor mounts. We are thinking of making spacers and just making them solid instead of using the stock rubber ones. Does anyone see a reason to NOT do this?

Depends on what size motor gauge of steel frame many factor come into play when dealing with mounting an engine. Pictures would greatly help us in determining whether you could hard mount the engine or not.

Most engines are mounted without these rubber mounts (if I am thinking of the correct thing). Most engines are mounted directly onto a metal plate with holes drilled in for the motor to be bolted to

Well first allow me to ask, why you made another thread for the very same issue?

Anyways, seeing your broken mounts, I think the real problem are not the mounts at all..
it looks like they're installed under load (pressure) and it's that preload that makes them snap when a shock is to be absorbed...

So I'd say: cure the disease..

Also there are rubber engine mounts for full size cars that might fit your needed distance,
maybe they add the needed strength and stability without transfering the vibration like a metal spacer would.

can u get me a few dimensions

i think i have a catterpiller replacement part number for these mounts

i need the bolt size
the distance it spans (the gap from one ount point the the other
and its width at the widest point

these are mounts used to hold up big lighting brackets on a bulldozer
theyre solid hard rubber

not solid but close to
so u shouldn't get and vibration but the mounts will be far stronger

EDIT
oh and dont worry about ordering from cat
anyone can walk into a parts warehouse and order a part reguardless if want a bolt or want to service your multi million dollar machne

i think cat is under hasting deering in canada

the two bolts on either side of the upper part of the engine are for the mounts
and a close up side view hope I posted the pics right so they don't take too much space
