The easy way around it is to find a pulley with the right inside diameter and cut a key way into the shaft.
Alternatively you can machine a taper into the pulley and bolt it on.
My Victa has a pulley mounted using the second method, seems to work well. Puley tensioner clutch of course. You could run a pulley to a jack shaft and put a centrifugal clutch on it but IMO pulley tensioner is 100x better.
The hard bit as accurately measuring the taper, tapers are usually a standardized size and if your lucky the specs can be found online.
r97, they don't vary as much as you would think. Just my 2c.
r_chez_08, have you priced the taps that you will need? Not worth it IMO.
