Do i need a tool to remove and put together a chain

I have a #35 chain. Do i need a tool to remove and put back pins?

If there is a master link no. If there isnt, yes, you need a chain breaker tool. There about 30 bucks or so.

Measure twice, cut once.
Use a punch to drive them out.
Put chain in vise, punch pins out.
Reassemble.

i bought a extra one if i take the pins out without a chain breaker will i not be able to put it back?

use a screw driver to push the U shaped clip off.
then pull one side of the chain off.
then slide one peice of chain off the other.

the pins are bevaled over to stop them falling out and this prosses is not nessercery when there is a master link

Yup. Nice work. I don't use/believe in master links. I make all my chains one piece with no connecting or master links.

I can get 3 lengths out of a 10 foot piece of #35. Once I get the first one done, the next 2 are a breeze. (provided I don't push a pin the whole way through)

Oh, and I have a proper chain tool too. heh heh.
