I have a Comet 20 series torque converter on my kart that does not have a backplate, and I'm wondering if I might need one. I just installed a new Predator 212cc, and after putting on the drive clutch, I noticed that the part closest to the engine is very, very close, to the point where if I spun it back and forth a bit with my fingers, metal shavings came off in certain spots where the clutch actually rubbed the engine a bit.
