what do i do
well worked for my old man on the farm during school
then in my final year (yr 12) i did a program that put us in work placements
we did this instead of doing TEE (big final exams )
basicallly for the not so bright kids
of cousre theres loads of people that should have done it but everyones too proud to do that
so 3 years out of school they still dont have a real job
i did a work placement at a company that longterm hired heavy earthmoving gear all around the world
originating in perth australia they focus mainly on
canadian oil sands
Chilean gold mines
west and east north Australia
they had some equipment in american coal feilds but the whole american side of the buiness was writen off
at the end of the work placement i asked for an apprenticeship
well timed just out of the GFC they had ditched a few of people in preparation for a big hit
but the GFC never really hit Australia dew to the mining bomm and chinas want for more aussie dirt
so iv been working there ever since
what we do
well this is what i did today
we do half life and end of life rebuilds on machines
i do mostly bulldozers with a few loaders and a few trucks
this is the catterpiller D10T we have
this is what they look like before we start
all components out
all new hoses and all components back in
its amazing what u find once u take it apart to this point
stuff u would never find till u take it all apart
like the hydrolic tank held on by 1 bolt (others broken)
howd they break
because a big rock rode up the tracks and got pushed into the R/H platform causing massive cracking
so the whole R/H side was flexing in two bits thought the tank
iv been fixing up the nose cone today which contains the radiator, inter coolers and lift cylinders
it all comes out by removing 4 pins
good design
so i replaced all the cores and cut out all the bearings then froze new ones in
just for the hell of it
me on a 793 truck at griffin coal mine
and my toolbox
all the crap iv collected over the last 3 years
put more into it than my car
