Do I have a 20 series, 30 series, or both?

I need help in identifying whether I have a 20 series or 30 series torque converter, or a combination of both. I am pretty sure that the driven, which was replaced a while ago by a mechanic, is a 20 series because is has symmetrical sides, and the spring, which I removed to adjust, is wound the correct direction for a 20 series. But the driver has asymmetrical sides, which leads me to believe that it is a 30 series. Are my assumptions correct and did the mechanic make a mistake by putting the wrong driven on? Also, I have a an asymmetrical belt. Thanks in advance for your replies.

Definitely a 30 driver with a 40 driven.

I know that the 20 and 30 are both asymmetrical systems, and both use a spring that pegs into a hole in the driven sheave and the hub face as your pic also shows... a 40 uses a straightened section at each end of the coil against notched out stops instead

Wrong! The 20 and 40 series both use a symmetrical belt, but of different widths. The only one that is asymmetrical is the 30 series. You can not use a 20 series belt on a 40 series clutch or visa versa.

Never under estimate the determination of stupidity!

Can it be done?
Probably considering the pic has a 6" 30 series driver and a 6" 20 series driven but no belt and was gotten that way.

Is it going to work properly? No

Will it work at all? Maybe but not well. It's definitely going to smoke up the belt until it let's go.

So should you? ABSOLUTELY NOT!
