Does this happen to anyone else? After I ride my kart on my lawn for a few minutes I start to get a little dizzy with a sort of swollen head feeling.

My back yard is a little bumpy, and I do get tossed around a little bit while riding but nothing extreme like jumping.

I wonder if I've been giving myself minor concussions?

It's the fluid in your cochleas getting shaken up, sending mixed signals to your brain that conflict with what your eyes see. My wife can't read in the car... Same type of thing. Balance center feels motion, but the eyes don't see it. Or vice versa, with something like VR goggles, when the eyes have no fixed reference point and see everything in motion, but the inner ear doesn't feel motion - bam. Dizzy.

Also known as motion sickness. Eyes say up, ears say sideways.

Some people are just more sensitive to it.

Time to put some cushy tires and some suspension on your kart. Now you really have an excuse to :wai:

Thanks guys,

I have my tires aired down to about 3 psi.

Head hurts a little afterwards. Weird I know, but I race cars too and those don't make me dizzy. I may just be sensitive, it's weird since I imagine people do way more extreme stuff than me.

Well, none of us is a doctor,
but I think we can all agree that THIS does NOT sound "normal" at all.

Maybe it's nothing (you're a bit sensible and maybe get too much vibration and breathe too much exhaust fumes *which in itself isn't exactly healthy*) and you should simply stop karting or need to get used to it some more *shrugs*

BUT if it worries you enough to ask in a forum,
you should worry enough to actually go and ask a doctor.

Not to alarm you in unreasonable manners, but better be safe than sorry!

Dirt track racing or pavement? Either way with the car having suspension and the track being smooth or groomed, it'll make a huge difference on how your body feels. Depending on the kart, you could give yourself some suspension with a Springer spindle kit, Gopowersports sells them...just spindles that has a small spring that rides above it, giving some suspension. Balloon type tires aired low will give a decent ride.

If you still feel sick, your next order up will be to build a full suspension kart/buggy.
