DIY Weld on Shock brackets?

Silly question, but I want to make my own shock brackets for my 12-in's, and possibly make it with multiple holes for adjustability. Does anyone have any tips or tricks they used for making these? (i.e. using cabinet railings or stop sign posts or something of the sort). I have limited resources for measuring things and welding, but I was hoping there to be an easier way than trying to make one from complete scratch and having to align things manually.

I've used square tube, on a mini-Jeep I designed & built

Just has to have the same size ID (inside diameter)
...as the width of the end of the shock
&
Just cut the side out of a short piece (~2")
...with (1) set of holes, on (1) end
...& cut the side out of a longer piece (~6")
...with (3) sets) of holes, on the other end, for adjustability

Thank you! I was going to go for something like this too. Are most people using any sort of standard partial thread hex bolts that fit as the pins?
