propane tank is easy Have used a few to make aluminum melting furnaces. You drain as much as you can with the top valve. If the valve is broken then try to unscrew it from the propane. If it is stuck use a hand drill and drill a small hole in the top of the tank where the metal is the thinest just outside the ring welded on for handles. Let it vent and lattor drill another hole on the oposite side. Use an air gun to force fresh air in for a few minutes and start cutting.

This is how i do it. 8 done so far and im still alive!

Thanks- Let's see a pic of yours! (and some detail on how you safely purged it so that you weren't blown to Armageddon when you cut/welded on it... LOL)

You might be surprised how that works out, we have scrapped many tanks... (the srcap yard wont take em if there isnt a visible hole) weve left the valve open for a bit then we would cut it. They still smell, so that would make some one leary of cutting on it, but that smell sticks to them things for months even after the valve is open and having some holes blowed through em( :2guns: ).

Seems to work for us.
Still, rather be safe than sorry I guess.

You guys are nuckin' futz! Propane gas is heavier than air. If you dare drill holes in the tank- either do it at the bottom, or flip the tank upside down after drilling. Y'all been lucky so far... Just- lucky.

Dare to drill holes? Im confused, you talking a full tank or what???

The tanks we mess with are empty or extremely close to it. Like I said, the valve is open for a good long while before we start cutting on it.

Ive always wanted to set one up with some candles around it or something then shoot it... :2guns:
