Disc brakes

I have a caliper, a 8 inch disc, and i need to know how to mount it and get in working on my go kart, its a straight axle, and has a drum on it right now, but it broke. So if you have any ideas on how to do it/ making mounting brackets/ just advice for me that would be nice, i know my way around a motor, but these brakes have got me stuck. Thanks!

Ok what kind of braking system do you have, hydraulic or mechanical?

What kind axle do you have live or dead stub axles?

What kind disc is it, does it have a hub or is it from a motorcycle or the like?

Its a mechanical brake system, with a straight axle, i bought the disc off ebay and it works perfectly, but how do i mount the caliper itself?

This is what I did to my kart from just thinking about it and doing it. (just to give you an idea)


If you have a solid frame (no rear suspension) you would have a solid bar between the brake pedal and the disc caliper lever arm. Also, a hefty return spring (to keep your brakes from locking up) would need to be there to make the caliper lever go back to its original position.
