Hey y'all, I have had this old marshin 85cc 5 speed dirtbike in garage for a few years and decided to mount it to an old kart prime everything is going good until time to wire it up, ther are way to many wired, it has a starter and I want to use it, everything else I don't care , as long as it Hadspark to get to sparkplug, can I just straight wire my starter to a battery and put a switch on it, but how does it get spark, do I need the coil and solenoid and stator and magneto? All help would be awesome

If it had electric start then it will have a stator inside the left engine cover, which is also where the magneto is mounted; that's alll necessary if you want to run the elec start.

You will also need a CDI box, voltage regulator, coil, solenoid & all the necessary wiring...

what about just kicking/rolling it off, once I get it on the frame I can go buy some new electrical wires and get the starter working, I was working on it last night and am just trying to get spark to the spark plug, the thing that is on the wire end of sparkplug wire (I guess coil), what do I need to hook that up to? All help is awesome, I have only done mechanical work before and any complicated electrical work I would get one of my friends who know what there doing, this is the first go kart I have ever had to do this much complicated wiring, Thx

This is a klx110 that I'm repairing for a customer. First pic is the wires from coil. They go into the main harness. The second pic is the wires coming from engine, that feed the coil. Same as on your engine, just may look different. If you can't figure it out, hit me up ....

I've attached a basic wiring diagram for just about all engines of this type, it's fairly easy to follow but, as you will see, the coil is powewred by the CDI unit so, without it, you're not going anywhere...
