Haha yeah. Is there anything you can do when there is no spark anyways? I took the pull start apart, cleaned the fly wheel magnet, checked all the wires, etc... I can always cancel the order if its something manageable :surrender:

Sadly, it's a process of elimination, there are so many things that coould be at fault from the plug through to the points/cdi; which brings up my first question: which one does your engine have? If it has points, it should be pretty easy to fix; if it's electronic, the hardest part is finding a new module. Here's a few other things you can do:

1. As Bman suggests, eliminate the plug; use a phillips screwdriver in place of the spark plug & check for spark.
2. Check that the gap on the magneto is set correctly.
3. Check the spark plug lead for visible signs of wear/damage
4. Make sure the ignition is NOT grounded. Does it have a kill switch? If so, it may have a short which means it is grounded & it will never start

There may be more to check but we'll have to wait for you to get back to us

Thanks for all the suggestions guys. I put a new plug in the day I bought it. The wire that runs to the top of the spark plug is in ok shape. I tried the screwdriver thing and still no spark. The engine has a switch on the pull start cover and it appears to be ok. I will mess with it more tomorrow. As for the magneto how would one go about doing that?

Sometimes kill switches malfunction and stick-on no mater what position the switch is turned. An easy test is to simply unplug it, if that's your only problem your engine will get spark with the kill switch unplugged. This switch just grounds out the magneto wire to kill spark, so also check to see if its wire(s) have shorted out against any metal parts of your engine/kart. Lots of karts have a second kill switch wired in, (so it'll be within easy reach of the driver) so be sure to check for that too...

UPDATE!
So after pulling the wire off the kill factory kill switch the engine sparked to life! I replaced the kill switch and the engine starts on the first pull and runs like a champ. I bolted it back on the kart, hooked up the linkage and belt, pulled the cord and the cart took off. But I was able to drive the cart around my apartment complex

So when you start the cart im assuming the thing is not supposed to jet off on its own but what keeps it from doing so? Im a little confused about the whole clutch/ drive gear setup.

Also how does one go about adjusting the brakes on this cart?

So happy she runs and drives!!!!! :auto::thumbsup: Gotta return that crate motor now

Correct me if I'm wrong but, you have a CVT (torque converter)? How much slack is in your belt? The more slack, the higher the engagement speed will be.

As Mcbreja suggested, drop your idle speed.

Quick tip: When problem solving/troubleshooting, it's always a good idea to have the back wheels raised off the ground

Its always something simple that messes your whole project up. Go figure.

Question tho, I just realized I don't have a brass bearing on the torque convertor that the belt rides on. Could this be why my kart is taking off on me?

Could be, first thing i'd check is that at idle make sure the engine pulley is totally recessed in the drum and not trying to drive.
