Ok so I tried your trick and yes the pin seats. I even took out the little screw/ pin in the side that has the tiny holes and cleaned that out too. I checked over everything and still its not starting. :mad2:

what the idle screw set to? to low and the engine will never start.

Which one is the idle screw? the small one in the side with the little holes? That was tightened all the way down when I took it out

The flat head screw next to the primer is your low speed mixture. Try turning it in til it stops then screwing it out 1 1/2 turns. Also, put the air filter screws in the carb even without the filter assy. They are a part of the primer bulb circuitry. Real brilliant..... and my carb situation was the same with 3 different Tecumsehs. I had 5 different of these as a kid when we first got into karts. My neighbor had a Dingo and i had a 2 seater Manco, then we just got to know those motors so we swapped them onto other stuff. Glad i found the clone nowadays. I have a ton of Tecumseh stuff to sell cheap but nobody wants it.

Note that the blue clones will not bolt on a Dingo with removing the fuel tank. The tank hits the seat back on the Dingos. Not sure about the predator clones.

So if you do buy a clone keep in mind you may have to remote mount the gas tank.

I will give that a try sometime after work today. Oddly enough my kart didn't come with the air filter assembly so unfortunately no screws. Any idea what size they might be? I may have some lying around. Also the linkage that runs from the carb to the engine block is very loose, maybe another cause? Previous owners suck sometimes :mad2:

The linkage looks correct from the pics. It just may need a little bending and tweaking here and there. That "twisted staple" that connects the governor arm to the carb butterfly should be a little cleaner but you'll have to keep trying it so the throttle doesn't hang.
Those screws are probably 10-32 or 8-32 maybe.

Once you tried everything above, squirt a few drops of fuel into the air intake and see if it tries to fire.. make sure you are still getting fire... dont just assume that it started once that its still getting fire.. the problem is this thing set up awhile and once it did start...thats when the carb gummed up. Thats why I say toss it and count your losses...
At least see if someone has a good carb here you can try. I do not like tossing good engines either.. by far... its just that you can spend too much time on these issues when you can have an new engine installed in LESS than all the time messing with the carb and out riding the cart not stuck at home day after day trying to troubleshoot.
Your time should mean something to you. Just sayin.....
I work on these karts for a living and I know sometimes its not even as easy as putting on a replacement carb on these tecumseh's......... You can spend way more time on them than they are worth trying to fix.

Update: So I put the screws into the carb where the air cleaner would be. I tightened that flat head screw all the way down then turned it back a bit as suggested. I turned the torx star screw for the throttle position so its midway, hit it with a shot of ether and still no go. She will not turn over at all. I even took the pull start apart last night and made sure the magnet was clean. I am at a complete loss for why it won't start. New plug, oil, gas, rebuilt carb, etc....:huh::huh::huh::huh::huh::huh::huh::furious2:

I just realized that when im pushing the primer bulb its not drawing gas from the bowl. If I push the button down it is not sparying fuel into the carb via the red nozzle inside. Solutions?

Just a thought, primer bulbs work two ways: some squirt fuel into the carby, others draw fuel through the carby so it gets to the primer bulb last. Do you know which one yours is?

Ok ive heard a trick for the Tecumseh primer bulbs. Apparently you supposed to prime it with a quick jab of the primer bulb. Just pushing it isnt enough to cause suction.

IDK if its true or not. but it seemed to help my tecumseh.

:idea2:So I placed my finger over this hole and pushed the primer button and poof now I have fuel coming up into the carb. I can even hear the fuel being pressurized into the carb. So now the question becomes, do I have a faulty primer bulb, or am I missing something that is supposed to cover this hole?

That hole is supposed to be there, the primer on these is supposed to squirt fuel up into the red tube. But it usually doesn't squirt it like a spray you can see... just enough to wet the tube. If you can't get it to start with a brief spray of fluid and your hand over the carb inlet (like a choke) you have a spark issue or something way out of whack with the valve lash not letting them open correctly.

When you are trying to start the kart.. does it burb smoke, does it make any farting noises... does it try and huff or act like it is trying to start? Again.. stop messing with the carb at this point trying to figure out what does what... see if its getting fire.. if its not your wasting your time by messing with the carb... We know youy are trying to learn on how to fix it yourself with experimenting with different things.. thats human nature and trying to learn from inexperience... Nothing wrong with that at all... But not taking peoples advice on here (see my original first reply and qtband's reply) is not going to get you were you want to go anytime soon. We will move back to the carb issue once you verify if your still getting fire at the plug. Fire is always number #1 on a check list on small engine repair trouble shooting.
An engine needs 3 things to run.. and tecumseh carbs.. 4 things....
1. Fire
2. Fuel
3. Air
Nothing more, nothing less...
4. Tecumseh carbs=A swift kick in the a*s*s* out the window...

When I pull start it does huff and a puff of smoke comes out the air cleaner side of the carb. I appreciate your input on the engine and yes I will check for spark when I get home today from work. I am on the verge of just tearing the whole block off te kart and buying a new crate motor but as I learned from my father and his father patience pays off. I wonder if they ever had a Tecumseh engine before :roflol:
