I'm fixing up an old kart that has a differential rear end. If I turn the only one side moves. If I try to roll it only one side moved. We loosened up the bolts on the brackets holding the axle to the frame and everything turned when tightened up noting moves.

Well cant say for sure.... But new bearings help.... aswell inspect the diff to see its all good inside, and properly lubricated....

Pretty elaborate rear axle ya got there. New bearings and cheakmover the breaks good and you'll really have something.

frankly.. to me it looks to be the left side brake disc to be seized up (
well bent and locking when turned that is..., maybe I'm just imagining things *shrugs*)
but just for testing I'd first remove the brake calipers, just to be sure to really test the diff (and maybe the bearings) and nothing else.

And yes, when the axle is allowed to compensate laterally a bent disc could be the issue
and result in working diff when bearings are loosened up.

The right side the pads were out, I'll remove the left side and see what's happening. Both calipers were loose.

The bearings were froze we got them moving again via a pressure washer and both rotors are warped I have been beating on them with a mallet since I can't get them off and they are moving again.

Does it matter where the clutch sits to the sprocket? In front, behind, or directly above?

On that axis no... But the sprockets must be aligned vertically with each other, so as to allow the chain to run true...

I've got one of those Comet differentials on my yard kart. If it is binding, check if the axles on each side are concentric and aligned. I align my axle bearings with a single long shaft which is pulled out once the bearings are lined up and bolted down and then I assemble the axle without moving the bearings. You will find that the diff will make cornering easier and turn-in sharper. Comet no longer makes that diff, but parts are still available last I looked.

The problem is it has a 10hp engine on it but creeps along with a 110 lb person. On it.it has a heavy duty clutch.
