Well, as promised here are some pics. I had to modify the engine mount, also created 2 "shims" out of 16 ga to get the chain to clear. I had to grind the tav2 backplate down as well because it won't mount in the traditional direction. I added another spring on the throttle shaft so I can shut it off by simply pulling up with my toe on the pedal. Now that I know it runs, and runs well, it's time to get it rolling and stopping well. My front left A-arm is bent and the tie rod rubs the shock... And, my tires are bald. I learned the hard way that it wont pull through a mudhole with bald tires. It does climb niceley though. Anyway... here ya go. Ill post some vids soon too.

It was provided by a friend under the agreement that I do something cool with it. I actually started with the motor, then after deciding that it was too much for my other kart, went and picked this one up and designed everything around it. There are some benefits over a 4 cycle though. It climbs really well because torque is always available, and I can drive it for a week on one tank of gas. My other kart with a briggs funpower burns through a tank in about 2-3 hours. It also doesnt have a carb to clog up. And, to top it all off we've run these engines for months and months at a time at 3600 rpm on military generators with aux fuel tanks and not even shut them off... its way more reliable than a gas motor. This particular motor had about 10 minutes of runtime before I installed it.

Well, he tried to sell it, and then I showed interest, but couldn't afford what he wanted so he put it up in consignment for a while. It didn't sell. I had also let him use an extra room of mine for storage for about 2 years, so when he came and got the rest of his belongings, he saw that I had gotten the girls a kart. We got talking and the next day he dropped it off. I offered to give him something for it, but he declined. It's actually an L70 though, but still plenty of power for a kart =) .

Now that's proper off road driving...

I'm wondering, is this for you or the girls?

By increasing the top speed you, in turn, reduce acceleration & hill climbing ability

Ha, good question. I actually have children ranging from 15 down to 5, so it's really for them to have fun while they're here. The girls that do live here are into cars and racing and all that cool stuff because dada is =) I guess it's really for all of us, but I end up driving it (Im actually getting a bit bored with the available landscape). As far as top speed, I'm not worried about it, it's fine the way it sits, and it climbs really well. I'm actually going to have to govern it down a bit for my 7 year old to start driving it in the yard.
