I was looking around at various types of equipment motors to install on projects and came across a few diesel motors. Does anybody on this forum currently use a small equipment diesel motor on their mini bike go kart or other vehicle? And if yes what size, how is the reliability and what is the power like? most of these motors I was looking at was horizontal shaft and pull start.

Small single cylinder diesels are very reliable, but are extremely heavy and bulky compared to gas engines.

An 8hp diesel is approximately the same size as a predator 670 and weighs considerably more.

And they're stupid expensive.

I think carsandcameras put a diesel on a kart. Do a quick YouTube search

Thanks, I was assuming if I can get the clutch to hook up faster then I can get away with a smaller rear sprocket. I thought diesel with all the low end power it produces might work for that.
