This is my first go kart and I was just expecting to buy a new motor and have it run. I am having problem after problem. The current problem is getting the right driver pulley and belt so the Kart can hopefully start running. I am sure I will be able to install them, I just need to make sure I buy the right parts.

Today I also ran into a throttle cable issue. When I would push the gas peddle, the throttle would not come back down when the pedal would be released. So I am not sure if the spring is not strong enough to return the throttle back or if my throttle cable is bad. The cable is old and the wire is frayed so I am going to get a new cable and try again.

Figure out the longest and shortest distance center to center by moving the engine in both directions. That will give you some leeway for the belt. 8" is.much less common than 6 & 7. E mail your question as described above. Don't give up on your chain and tool till you try it. Did you get the proper pitch ( size ) chain.

The chain the kart came with said 41 on it so I ordered a 41.

Thanks for the tip with the longest and shortest distance.

Go Kart supply nor OMB have 8 inch Driven pulleys on their websites.

Yep. You already figured the throttle cable problem. Great. When people leave these things out in the weather for God knows how long, it doesn't help anything, to put it mildly. Once you get yours sorted out, keep it in a garage or shed, or at the very least a cover. FWIW, I have 4 karts and a mini bike that are for all my Grandkids. Mine are under a couple of canopies and then individual covered. I buy covers for quads on Amazon for $20 each and they work great. Protects them, and we only go in the cool months so after 5-7 months of storage they are still nice and clean.

Are you sure it is not 7”? Read through the text a couple of times if you have to. Only use spray or dry graphite powder to lube the cvt.

I will look into those amazon quad covers.

The Driven pulley was a little hard to measure because of the pipe on one side and the other circle thing on the other side. It looked like it measured 8 inches. I will check again when I take it off to clean it with break cleaner.

What is CVT? what type of spray to lube?

I am grateful for all of the help on this thread. I am now more confident that I will get this kart running knowing that I can get replacement parts.

I have learned so much about go kart in the last couple weeks. The knowledge will come in handy if I buy another used one in the future because I can see how this hobby becomes a little addicting.

The cvt means constant variable transmission. That is what you have. Also known as a torque converter. Once operational, those two clutches are a automatic transmission. If nobody has a chart or can come up with anything for a 8" driven I have a suggestion. You can move your driven clutch for and aft what looks like a good inch from the picture. You should have some adjustment on the engine as well. Get everything loose and as close together as possible. Measure around the two clutches. Circumference that the belt would be. Don't use a tape measure ( too rigid) . An old belt like to hold up your pants would work. Take that measurement, add 1", and buy a belt that long. You should have enough travel separating the two to easily make up the slack. A proper fitting belt is not at all tight when the kart is stationary.

Lots of good advice from some experts that have all done it before. If you haven't bought a new driver or driven unit I can offer another possible suggestion which will save you some money. Put both the driver and driven into a box and send it to me and I will go through them both and tell you for sure which way to go that will be the cheapest route. Hard to tell from the pictures on the driven unit if it has the correct wrap on the spring for the inboard mount which is the correct way to do it on the set up you have. I will clean both units for you and they will look like new. The only thing is I am heading out tomorrow for my annual Canadian fishing trip and will not be back until the 17th. So I cannot get at it before then. I do know a thing or two about t/c and we make the series 20. The set up you have looks like it is on a Carter kart who were out of Brundidge, Alabama.

Sanch109. If you can wait that long, JimD actually owns a company that manufacturers the clutches. As the saying goes " he's probably forgotten more about clutches than the rest of us put together ever knew ". That is quite a generous offer he made you.

I took off the Driven pulley and it measures a little over 7 inches. I guess I have a 7 inch pulley then.
