Where in the PNW do you call home?

Using .035 flux core, I don’t have a gas rig. The machine is a small Lincoln 140. Once I cleaned up some rust most bonds were true. I plan to do a Once over again this weekend with gussets on some tabs and joints but feeling good overall. Motor started fine this weekend; no issues to speak of really. haven’t setup the accelerator or done any bleeding of the brakes yet but plan to do that just before paint this weekend. Added some height to my hoop, and will be adding headrests after paint more than likely. Looking at maybe a week or two till first run.

Mapping the lighting as well when not in the shop. Any suggestions on visual reference materials of karts with a focus on lighting? My plan for eyelet ambers inboard (maybe 2 or 4) round retro ambers up front (low voltage led will suffice) a flat bar high beam (centered obvs) rear ovals can just be running or intergrated, haven’t though much about break lights yet. And a whip, the leds are cool if not a bit overkill. I am imagining at the very minimum, a beacon above a flag @ 5” but the ones I’ve seen are for buggy’s and are quite expensive. And a basic undercarriage kit. Imagine the light reflecting on a white surface (dried lake bed / eastern Oregon) it reflects quite far. For me, this is as much fun to ride at night as during the day.

I like your build. If you are planning to use it strictly off road ( like in the desert ) I hope that you are very young, and can withstand a lot of pain. Driving fast off road in a kart with no suspension quickly becomes a torture chamber. Hope you have some smooth areas to run on.

Just add all the lights you can, dude. Get the Fast and Furious underglow kit, put the LEDs underneath so you’re floating…

I like your build. If you are planning to use it strictly off road ( like in the desert ) I hope that you are very young, and can withstand a lot of pain. Driving fast off road in a kart with no suspension quickly becomes a torture chamber. Hope you have some smooth areas to run on.

Haha yeah. I used to build art cars for burning man in my previous life. So don’t give me any ideas! Lmao. Was thinking mapped projector and a smoke machine to boot. Maybe a 3w laser cannon. Sky’s the limit

To be fair this kart is a trial run for a larger hybrid kart I plan to build in the spring. That one would be for dunes and off road. The kart I’m currently building will either be sold or just given to my kids

Perhaps you should research the amp draw of all those lights vs charging capacity?
I see a pull starter, so no battery, no charging circuit?

Haven’t installed the battery circuit yet; which includes a small 35ah rechargeable mower batt. I am familiar with wiring electrical, so I’m not concerned about amperage draw. I’m more or less looking for legit retro stylings that are modernized. Example would be 2A from a modern lamp. I see a lot that are 25w but with 450 lumens so more for show then function. With the exception of the high beam panel, all others considered low voltage.
