deep clean motorcycle air cleaner element?

I have an Arlen Ness style filter, I use the K&N cleaner and oil on it but I fear it needs a deeper cleaning, any ideas? Boil in the lemon juice?

ha ha, now I wonder where I bought it and if it really was Arlen Ness, all those purple filters look the same

Some say oil the filter, some say do not.
Such a confusing proposition for this style of reusable filters as there doesn't appear to be a standard.
