I didn't doubt it- but I've just work 3 weeks straight without a day off- and spent my evenings moving. This equation is well beyond my mental capacity at the moment.

As a matter of curiosity, what has motivated you to ponder this?

I'd assume you could get an exact answer with either combinations or permutations. I forget which and can't really be hindered with figuring it out ATM.

Actually, I would like the formula for figuring out such numbers. I used the deck of cards as an example.
Whether it is a deck of 3 cards, 52, 100....or any other quantity.

This sounds very much like the same equation as you would youse to figure out the number of possible combinations on a lock, or phone numbers, etc.

For those wondering,

With a combination the order doesnt matter so 10 12 13, 12 13 10, 10 13 12 are all the same value.

But with a permutation the order does matter so 10 12 13, 12 13 10, 10 13 12 would be different values.

I originally calculated it out and thought I had the wrong answer. I put my number into the Yahoo search window and came up with this:
