I just got back from skiing, finally got around to learning how to parallel ski! Also picked up some new steel toe boots!

I agree with the take your time and make it nice suggestion. Maybe you want to make some sketches, and try to get a cost estimate so you don't run out of cash half way through.

Also, I like the style mini bike bighead posted, I have wanted to make one and gear it real low, like 15mph, then throw in an old 8hp or so Briggs or tech flatty, then take it on some trails!

As for the seat, you can make one very cheaply, get some good foam, plywood, t-nuts, staple gun, and of corse some vinyl from a fabric store, I am making a seat right now, got a 6th by 3ft chunk of heavy duty marine vinyl for about six bucks. Go to the DIYGK home page, some where there is a guide to making a simple seat, of corse you can make it more complicated if you want.

Quite honestly, I'm glad to see the other one go. It was too dodgy for my liking and I don't want to see anyone dying. I hope you heed the advice and make this one SPECTACULAR! I wish I could be snowboarding right not. We got 9" of powder overnight, didn't have school, and all I did was clear a driveway and make a short film with a friend for school. I would have loved to hit the slopes!

Thanks! Since I'm sick today (all winter and I get sick over break!) I had plenty of time to painstakngy stick through four lares of vinyl with a needle made from 1/8" rod, maybe 4 or 5 hours plus, fortunately I didn't go insane!

EDIT: that seat is 5" wide, and I think six or seven inches long, then 2 3/4" tall including the base.

LOL, none of the needles my mom has are sturdy enough to pull fishing line through a few layers of vinyl, i had some 1/8" rod sitting around, and in 5 min i had a heavy duty needle! it really wasn't that bad as long as you pre-punched holes in most of the layers of vinyl, that way you only need to make a hole in one layer of vinyl. maybe i should have taken pics during the build.... oh well!

i think if i make another seat i will have to figure out a better way of dong things (rent a big sewing machine?), because this one took forever, and its a really tiny seat!

You need to scale the project or engine to proper size. Some measurement may be off. Is that a 13 HP and you were planning on a 2.5 HP? Take some measurements off the engine and see if they are correct. Check the bolt pattern footprint as that would probably be the easiest.

There are 3 models. All different sizes. That would make sense that he would use his 6.5, which leads me to believe that the engine isn't scaled properly. Like r97 said, look at that exhaust pipe.

for the front axle i would suggest using bushings in your 3/4 hub down to a 5/8" axle. iv done it many times is simple and works good. just got to spritz it with oil when you do the clutch

i was thinking a 3/4 live axle and cut it down to the length i need, and let it roll on pillow blocks.

how much would it cost and where do i get it?
