Just picked up a 212 Predator horizonal shaft motor from Harbor Freight for $99.00 plus $20.00for 2 year unconditional warranty.

They might not be the best engines but for the price what the heck.

I found out about the $99.00 price when they sent me a sales flyer. You have to take the flyer in with you, otherwise they will charge you $119.00. Regular non sale price is $179.00.

I went to the store a day after the flyer came out, they only had 2 left by then, so dont wait to long. The cashier says they've sold really fast.

They have a much larger, looks to be about 10hp, electric start motor for $350.00 too. I paid almost $500.00 for my brigs pull start from an on line supplier.

The bigger one you're referring to is the 346cc, its 11HP, OHV, cast iron cylinder, and an 8.0:1 compression ratio. Seems like a solid engine with power to spare if you need it.

can't use the 20% off coupon on motors, so the $99 coupon is the way to go. and they are absolutely the best motor on the planet for the price! but only if what you're putting them on will do well with a 6 1/2 hp motor. :) if you're gonna jump up to the 11+ hp motor, well then you'll need a comet 40 torque converter - in which case you're looking at about $600 all together. in that case you're WAY better off finding a nice 340cc-500cc snowmobile to gut the motor, torque converter, and motor mount from!!! 30 to 80 horsepower baby! feel the power... ohhhh yeahhhh.... lol.

I just purchased a 212 Predator that was on sale for $119.00 using the 20% coupon (cashier used it within my iPhone). Out the door for $99.00 bucks.

After oiling and fueling up, she crunk on the first pull. This puts buying parts, time and travel trying to make Tecumseh's run in a bad light ; )

My name is Quicksilver and I approve this message as a P.S.A.

Cool, I was wondering when they'd finally lower the price of these Predators to around the same price they used to sell the greyhound engines.

They probably buy a whole boat-load of these 6.5 predators for around $25 each, and they're still making a huge profit @ $99, and they've been totally overcharging everyone @ $179.00 for quite awhile now... :ack2:

crunk on the first pull.
"Crunk"?

This puts buying parts, time and travel trying to make Tecumseh's run in a bad light.
Maybe, maybe not. I prefer to ride the other side of this one. Sure, you can throw a cheap chinese engine on your ride in a pinch- sweet and easy.

Then again, you don't learn anything. Personally, I get incredible satisfaction when I've taken a non-running paperweight, exorcised it's demons, pull the cord, and VROOM! That's DIY, baby!!!

Greetings Toy...I'm a Southern Negro man, and we say "crunk" when the motor has started or cranked up. Us Southerners, especially us Negro's have a slang all our own. Sorry.

Regarding the Tec's, they do require extra love and they do have that Mojo when run. I've got a LOT of kids, and having the HF clones makes all the karts run without a lot of fuss.

Hey, it's all good.

That's cool- I just hadn't heard that one before. I couldn't decide if it was slang, or a typo, or what?

Don't get me wrong, I'm not picking on you or anything for buying a new engine. It was just more of a general statement. So many times we've seen people start leaning into a new engine, when something as simple as a spark plug is all that's required. you know- Teach a man to fish...

:roflol: Aussie rhyming slang. Seppo, short for septic tank, rhymes with yank.

Other examples:
dog & bone = phone
Reggies/Reg Grundies (tv producer) = undies
Johnny Raper (former football star) = paper (newspaper)
