I'm trying to clean out the area of things I no longer need or use.
I threw the bug and the sand rail up for trade, and was offered this.

1100 shadow, all leather custom done by owner.
Notice the horn on the saddle. :D

Mama and I might just ride off into the sunset.

I would think so but make sure the bike works well or you could be walking down the road of costly mistakes and not riding into the sunset. Also make sure you like to ride bikes, there cheap to repair (most of the time) and insurance is cheap :) so its a win win! Till you get hit and it could be all over.

Eh. If God wants my @ss, he'll take me wherever I am, and not until then.

hehe well,
that's how location makes a difference I guess..

A 1100 shadow is worth about "nothing" around my area, whereas your 1300 bug,
might buy you a new Harley as long as it's in reasonable shape.

Joe traded 8 wheels for 2 skinny ones. The math is way off and so is the value, if any. The scale is not balanced. Any Japanese bike of any type just don't hold their value...but people go nuts over any American iron, basket case or showroom new...

Horrible deal, Joe. I think you been suckered. :D

You'll have to cut it in half... I've seen a few car show describing how most European laws on licensing the car, needs to be rebuilt when coming from N.America unless its new.. Something like that.

Also if you don't use the sand rail or bug you might as well get some thing to have fun with?

That's pretty much how I see things.
Sometimes the monetary value isn't as important as some of the other values.

Dang. It's just as bad as trying to import a new or older non US oil burner for a swap...have to chop the thing in half and even then you can run into issues from EPA and/or customs.

I think you got the short end of the stick, of course the bike would have been worth the rail. The VW could go to an enthusiast that wanted it.

Nope any bug with a valid US title can be licensed in germany w/o any issues;
it has to be technically sound
(working lights and brakes, no structural parts broken or rusted etc...)
but that applies to ALL vehicles (no exceptions, not even new cars!)

And the rest is the import paperwork... no big deal actually
(200 bucks and a month or so)

Gawd. What's with CL people? Are they all idiots except me?
I talked with the guy around lunch time, he said he was loading up the bike, and headed my way.
I waited all afternoon and nothing. No call, no text, nadda.
I sent a text and also left a voice mail, still nothing as of this morning.

Did he crash and burn on his way here?
Was he loading the bike, it fell on him, and he died?
Did he decide it was too far to drive?

In a way I don't care, but my wife really wants this bike.

I mean, call me if you decided to crap out, but don't leave a guy hanging. I'd never do something like that to anyone. I just don't get it.

Some people just lack the balls to man up and say they are not coming. If they need the money that badly they would have said something.

Guess the sayings trust no one, or don't trust them as far as you can throw them make sense. Hope they don't remake the CL ad again.

Dear Joe,

I loaded your bike in the back of my truck on Sunday. As I was pulling out of the driveway, I saw a white stag deer across the road. He was just standing there looking at me. So I stopped and got out and hollered "hey there!" real loud like. The deer just twitched his ears a little. So I walked a little closer, to the edge of the road. Suddenly the deer kind of made a smirking sort of sound, like he was laughing or something. Then he took off so fast you'd swear he was flying. I said "dang" and turned around back towards my truck. Well that ol' deer sure enough must have been laughing, 'cause there goes my truck rolling into my barn door, just a smashing and crashing everything in it's path. Your bike got caught on a hook inside the barn, pulled that thing out and smashed it up good. So you still want it or what?

No answer of phone, no answer to text either.
I think this guy is dead.

I've had some other offers, but nothing near as nice as his was.
