Greetings everyone.

Wondering on ideas for turning a live axle into a dead axle for better pavement handling. Is just pulling the keystock out of 1 wheel a bad idea? My gut says that it is but I'm not sure why it says that...

Thanks everyone and stay safe.

You can do that, others have....
:idea2: or you can get a non keyed hub with bearings that fit your axle, for better longevity.....

I suggest using a bearing hub vs taking the key out of 1. Reason... the 2 empty keyways have a tendancy to bind, n the forced movement of the 2 keyways binding on each other will render the hub very dificult/needed replacement, due to a key wont fit into the key track of 1, if not both tracks.

Yes you 'can' do it... n may get away w/ it for alil... but its not a 'stable' form of usage of a nonbearing hub.

That's why I said OR non keyed hub with bearings to fit his axle. That would be the best route, but he wanted to know if he could simply remove the key from the current hub, so I answered that first. Then gave the better option, second.... :cheers2::lolgoku:
