We just acquired an ASW Quantum 7150 from a private seller a few days ago. There's some dark/black fluid dripping from the metal nipple on the bottom. Is there supposed to be some kind of plug there? Also, there's a black tube that doesn't seem to be connected to anything. Is that some kind of drain tube? Thanks in advance for help! Ride Safe Everyone!

Mysterious dark fluids dripping from internal combustion engines are one of two things: 1) motor oil, or 2) ecto-slime from the rings of Pluto. Dealing with the latter is above my pay grade.
I appreciate the info. I will check the oil and maybe change it out. I'll reach out to the higher beings on the ECTO. Any idea if that metal nipple needs some kind of cap? Thanks fellow being...

Probably not maybe just a short length of hose. Might want to remove the belt side cover and make sure there are no leaks.
thanks for the advice, will definitely check things out since that's the only leak i can see right now.

Late reply here, but is the nipple under a ‘working part‘ of the engine? It looks like it does need a length of tubing attached to it as well as a hose clamp. The length of tubing, probably 5 inches or more and maybe a plug on the end is merely to prevent debris being sucked back up into the engine or the drain tube getting clogged.

If it is adjacent to the working parts of the engine, it may be an outlet for crankcase blow-by and the tube is often connected to the valve cover or the engine block. It could also be a simple drain for water/moisture that is a natural occurrence or if the buggy is operated in puddles and shallow streams.
