Custom golf cart with a 420 and fnr and 780 cvt. Im trying to get everything lined up, and i need to know if the secondary is going in the right direction. Is the primary clutch directional? Also, I have a secondary for a comet 40 that looks like it is set up to run to other direction, can I swap springs and flip the 780 secondary?

Guessing the gearbox cannot be moved further over to be centered? The only way that the driven pulley will work like that is if it has the proper spring installed. The driver should be flipped though.

In that pic the driven is assembled with the wrong spring if your going to use that orientation.
The driven as is, is set to turn top towards the camera.
If you turn the driven around it will be wound the proper way but will off set your belt. The driver unit will then need to be flipped around also.

Here's my set up. The driven is in front but that makes no difference. Same rotational direction.
To the left is foward.

As you can see in this pic, my buttons are on the trailing side of the ramp.

You want the movable driven sheave to move against the direction of belt travel.

The 40 series can be used either direction as per spring pack being inboard or outboard. You just have to have the correct direction wound spring for how your setting yours up.

Clear as mud, right?

It can be moved a little with some machining.
