cv hald shafts?

i thought i should collect some more parts off the mitzi colt in the dump so i went to collect the front hubs and cv half shafts

To cut a long story short i messed with rusty bolts for half an hour and got to remove the cv. Someone told me u would just slide them outta the gear box but when i tryed i got only half of the gearbox joint which probs isnmt sopose to happan


So how do i get the other peice of the joint out

on the japs you can wedge a screw driver between the housing and internal cv, or a crowbar, they have retaining rings on the shafts inside the housing, and will pop out sooner or later, you might have to remove a cover to get the crowbar/driver in as seen on the toyotas i have worked on but im not sure as i dont usually play with mitsi's.

i cant realy remove a cover as that cover has the engiune mount bolted to it

ill try the old more force till somthing gives way

as im sure u can image a car in a dump it is sitting on its belly and hard to access areas.
i might take the tractor down there and flip the car over

if these cvs wont slide in and out of the box then were is the give when the suspension moves up and down?

The give is either in the splines like this or the CV joint can slide within its housing like this..

Usually, on the ones I have done, when you take the outer out of the hub the inner just slides out?

actually the car is at home

we live 130 km from town and on a 15,000 acre farm so we have our own dump

So take the car to your tools? Strip it out. Take the crap back to the dump?

we already have too much stuff in the sheds that should be in the dump

i decided not to flip it i just lifted it and put a truck tyre under it but i did still manage to modify the roof

i got both front hubs and i left the long cv in place and the gearbox bit of the short cv isnt going to come out without me removeing the cover and thereby pulling the engine out

i think ill just buy two short cvs from the wreakers or use keyed uni joints and get a stub shaft made up

the front hubs look so useful as they have 3 arms from which i can mount a arms or trailing arms, so on and so on
