Cut oil line!!! Dry run......

Hello everyone,, hoping I can get some ideas here, recently my son was riding one of our karts, (a 150 cc quantom) one of the oil cooler lines under the vehicle split and it ran dry!!! Now it will not start,, have not opened up the engine yet so I have no clue what damage has been done,,, even with the spark plug out it will not continuously turn over , so do I rebuild or replace?? Any help is greatly appreciated,, I really want this kart back in motion!!!

well while my assumption would be a rebuild might still be possible,
my guts tell me a replacement might be less of a hassle, and not exactly more expensive at all.

If the cylinder walls are still in good condition (and I doubt that I'm afraid)
a rebuild is quick and not too expensive...
otherwise keep the old engine for spares and buy a new one.

I assume we talk gy6 here, else I need photos to make a better guess

good thing new gy6 top end replacement kits are cheap ebay, and other places may have them bmi karts? gopowersports>?

Yes ,,, I'm thinking new top end, no matter what is wrong..if crank is bent will replace it as well while I'm in there...lol

Ok...got the engine out,, piston and cylinder are trashed,, piston was locked at an angle!! Crank seems to be fine, no binding or play in it at all,, waiting for new parts to come in!!!

OK all my new parts have arrived,, new cylinder, piston, head, performance cdi and ignition coil, and an a9 cam, do I need to adjust the rockers and or valves to accommodate this new cam?? Oh and 14 gram roller wieghts, not sure if I'm gonna use them yet or not,, thanks again for all the help,, this forum is a lifesaver...lol
