Got my hands on a butchered up Manco Dingo. Half the roll cage had been cut off, the other half was welded to the main frame. Engine mount plate was long gone. The spindle brackets looked like cooked lasagna noodles they were so bent up. But it was only $40.
Fixed it up, rode it, and broke it again at the spindle bracket arm. Left it sit awhile. Cannibalized parts from it. Then my daughter asked for an offroad kart...
Next thing you know I am modifying the Dingo. First I grafted on the front suspension from a four-wheeler. Then I stretched the front A-arms 3" to accommodate the 20x7x8 wheels I am putting up front. Then came the 110cc semi-auto with reverse.
Now I am building the IRS. I am turning the rear carrier from the four-wheeler into the spool for my IRS. I have Polaris Sportsman hub bearing carriers, Miata CV axles, and off-road shocks with remote reservoirs. I also have 22x11x8 rear wheels and tires.
Unfortunately, money has gotten tight, (as I'm sure it has for most of us), and I can't afford to buy the heim joints I was planning to get to build the rear swing arms with.
So my question is, would bushing style A-arms work alright instead of the heim joint style arms?
Bonus question: Can someone tell me what size sprocket I need for the axle for best all around performance? Or remind me of the formula to determine the right size?
