curious clutch

That clutch should be able to last you for many years depending on the gearing of your kart. If you gear too high it won't last very long (but then no clutch will). What gearing do you have now? For a standard 6:1 ratio, you will need a 72T axle sprocket.

Indulge me for a moment...

Ignore what is printed on tire.
Take a measurement with a ruler from ground to top of tire.
What is this measurement?
It sounds like a centrifugal clutch may be wrong (by a factor of 2) for your current setup.

If I already have a belt driven pulley on my crankshaft, would I still need a torque converter or could I use a jackshaft?

Also 18" top to bottom.
