Hello all, our Tomberlin crossfire 150 has a problem I'd like to run past all of ya to see if you have any suggestions. It was running fine, shut off to pick up a golf ball in the field, wouldn't start back up. Pushed in the garage and left alone for several months. Charged the battery up to try to get it going and it turned over a couple times and acts like the battery is dead. Put another charged battery in and it turns over a couple times and then acts like its dead again? The starter relay clicks and the wire going from the relay to the starter is getting hot. Any suggestions?
several months of sitting will probably also cause your fuel to go bad. Id start with googling how to clean your fuel system (gas tank, fuel filter, fuel lines, carburetor).
If you could unscrew your spark plug, and put a small spoonful of gas in there, then try and start it (with a fully charged battery) it may crank for a bit, and could start up. If it starts and runs for a second or two, then dies, you know it is a fuel issue.
Could be any number of finnicky electrical issues as well, but Id definitely go for the easy stuff first like make sure the kill switch is set to on so your engine will run, open up the throttle, charge battery, add fuel, crank it over. If it doesnt start, with ONE HAND touching the insulator boot of the spark plug, unplugged, ground the plug by touching it (e.g. side of the spark plug) to the engine block, then cranking the engine over, you should see some sort of spark jump the gap on the plug. If no spark, then you may just be grounding it out somehwere else, or it could be more serious electrical issues.
Just some thoughts. Most of the time, though, if you let anything sit for more than a month, the gas will go bad (especially if you dont treat it and it has 10% ethanol, then its pretty much a guarantee it will go bad in a short amount of time if let to sit).
