CRG Shifter Kart Help

Hi Guys im new to this but ive always wanted to do it so i bit the bullet and bought a 2010 crg dark Knight rolling chassis as i had a kx 125 Motocross engine sitting about. my concerns are how can i link up the engine sprocket to the rear sprocket? when i sit the engine in the kart the sprockets are miles from lining up. Can my rear sprocket carrier be moved?? Any help would be great

Looks like a new custom engine mount is in order. Can you weld and/or fabricate?

Can't tell but maybe a 4-6"/10-15cm shift outward will line the engine up with your drive sprocket.

Thanks for the reply, the welding and fabrication aint a problem as i work with some great welders and fabricators, basically im gonna use the standard engine mount then they gonna make me a mount to go onto that and will hold my engine. i can push my engine out into the side pod more but can the rear sprocket carrier actually be moved to maybe the inside of the bearing?

just slide the sprocket holder over on the other side of the carrier bearing. Problem solved.

And your gonna have issues with sprocket sizes. I know i had one

What fuel pump you use mate and how did you set it up?

Look at reply #15 at the engine pic. It had a vacuum fitting for the standard fuel pumps like off of clones.

This was my issue as those pumps are too much for the stock carburetors. You can run a return back to the tank and it helps but you really need the mikuni style pumper carbs to work properly and not blow fuel past the needle and seats. It worked but was rich most of the time.

Thats great thanks, ive had a look you got a pic of it now?? where the pump plumbs into really. im new to this and wanna do it right 1st time

If your intake manifold is rubber, you could simply drill a slightly undersized hole and then epoxy or silicone a 1/4" barbed fitting like this in place. Simply cut off the the unneeded length so it'll be flush on the inside.

PS:
Mikuni sells special needle & seat valves for the increased pressure of running a fuel pump, they might be available for your carb model... Although installing a return line back to the tank would also help.

Here's a pic of the return system I installed to lower fuel pressure reaching the carb on my kart. That's just a Briggs & Stratton 1/4" shut-off valve used to regulate how much is allowed to return. I also installed a marine primer bulb in the supply line, makes it real easy to prime the system

wow god yeah that pump is a great idea. so before 1st use you pump that pump and shes ready to start? thats a great idea.
ive seen some youtube vids and im pretty sure ill be okay now so ill see how it goes.
also that pic of the hose barb, would that work in the manifold part where the carb goes to??

You can't use that fitting on a kx125. You need to buy a threaded fitting and tap a hole next to the Reed cage. If you look at my thread at the post I told you to look at it. There is a pic of the fitting installed.

Look at the Reed cage area.................
