So I picked up a complete Coyote Wide Track LE rolling chassis :auto:, and a 6.5 hp predator 212cc engine. I have already disassembled the chassis to strip the paint off and repaint it. Also, what body and nerf bars would I need to make a sprint chassis, what are some mods for the predator 212cc engine that gain the most power on a budget, and what clutch would go well with a 67 tooth sprocket? Ill post pictures soon.

Thanks,
John

67 tooth sprocket? What!? On a race kart? Hmmmmm
There are mods you can do to the engine, sitting at the kitchen table.... BUY a free flow air filter and adapter. Build/buy a free flow header. Drill out the main jet, with a welders torch tip cleaner. Buy a gx140 emulsion tube or drill out yours. Remove the governor. Now you're looking at 10-12 hp..... Less than $50.... For you.... I can do all that and not spend a penny, well, except the filter. (I COULD make a filter too, I suppose, but why, just buy..... )
Do you plan on racing sanctioned events?
As far as the other items you asked about.... The nerf bars and such.....got to ask a racer about that stuff...
The clutch.... If your gonna race, drop the $$ on a good clutch like noram or something similar. Hillard inferno is a good one....
You might rethink the 67 tooth count rear sprocket though..... Unless you are using a 12-13-or 14 tooth clutch..... 12 gives you 5.6:1 and the 14 = 4.8:1..... Roughly

Thanks for the info, and yes I plan to race in the future, but the closest race track is Summit Point and I don't really know about the classes. I will definitely mod the engine soon, very useful information, I could probably try to fabricate something, lol :stir:. The kart came with that sprocket, but I don't mind changing it, but do you have any recommendations about the sprocket size along with the clutch size to get fast acceleration and a mid range top speed? :iagree: And if anyone knows about the nerf bars on a Coyote Widetrack LE that will fit a sprint body, please let me know.

:wai: Welcome to DIY. I suggest you contact Coyote Motorsports, 1-585-352-0806. I also suggest that before moding the engine, I would contact Summit Point race track and find out what class you will run in and get a set of class rules. The track size will give you some idea as to what gearing to run.

So I didn't hear back since I contacted Coyote motorsports, so does anybody know any information about which sprint/shifter kart bodies would fit on the Widetrack LE nerf bars? if not mount on, what nerf bars would I have to buy? And what would be the best gear ratio for fast acceleration? Thanks, John

For fast off the line, with a 67 tooth rear..... 10 tooth gets you 6.7:1.... That's a lot of oomph
IDK much about the race karts. Just don't want you to feel like no one is reading your post.....

Thanks, I appreciate that, if anyone has information about the body, please leave that info as well. I'll post pictures once I get time to paint it

Do you want to install a Sprint-kart/Shifter-kart style Sidepods, like the kart in the left pic?

Or do you want an Oval-kart style body, like the pic on the right?

We need to know because these 2 different types of bodywork require different types of Nerfbars.

The pic on the left is the style of Nerfbar made for installing Sidepods on Sprint and Shifter karts.
(this type have those 2 extra horizontal brackets to help support the sidepods)

The pic on the right is a Nerfbar made for installing an Oval-kart body.

Thanks for the info, I'm planning to build the sprint kart (The one on the left). The problem with the coyote karts is that the rear part of mounting the nerf bar is tubular, like normal, but the front of the nerf bar connects to the chassis by bolting a flat part to the chassis. So that is confusing, I contacted Coyote Motorsports, and they replied, but asked what year my kart was, which I have no idea, but they take a long time to reply. So thanks for the info, but I was also wondering if they sell tubular to flat adapters? Thanks

Jim's got a pretty good idea there. It'd crack the chrome plating off, but some nerfs are un-plated stainless steel.

I've never seen any shops selling adapters like that, but it'd be pretty easy to make some out short lengths of stainless steel tubing.

Are there any serial numbers stamped in your frame that Coyote could use to I.D. its year & model?

Lol, good idea, but what would be the cheapest way to obtain new nerf bars and bodywork?

I think it's 2004 - 2006 Coyote Widetrack LE, it's been painted over before, so I'm going to remove the paint and see if there are any serial numbers that are noticeable, then I'll repaint it.

Thanks bshinn, I have checked out the site, but I don't know how to order parts lol, is there a specific way to order if I don't have a coyote dealer near me? And I am looking to buy this body on a budget, so if there is another way, that would be great.
