I'm planning on building a motorized wagon kart with my 9 year old. My question is if you built one before around how much did it cost to build one ? Thanks for the help

Why is it so hard to get a answer for this question ? This is the second cart forum I ask this question in and can't get a answer.

Let's assume you're referring to a radio flyer type wagon: Yes, there are a few here but, I haven't seen any for a while, much less the builders...

Your question is pretty direct, like you don't want speculation, you only want those who've done it to respond. Problem is, as stated above, those guys aren't around ATM...

The bottom line is, how long is a piece of string? The more you put into it, the more it will cost; simple things like choice of wheels can change the price by a few hundred dollars...

Sorry you're having such a hard time with this but, in most cases, a set budget usually goes out the window by the time the build is complete anyway :lolgoku:

I will say, being good at scrounging stuff for your project, will help alot. most of us here have done a great deal of this as budgets are usually high.

IMO, even if you use racing type wheels & tyres & other top shelf parts (axle, bearings, custom spindles, etc) you'll still come in under $1k

I spent $300 on just my frame & still only spent around $800 on the whole project but, I spent nearly as many hours on it...

I have always found that it is cheaper getting a roller of craigslist (or something like that) and then building it up from there. When I wanted to build my own kart, and I worked out the cost of all the parts, it was cheaper just to buy one. If you are able to get things for free, or second hand, then it will bring the price down. You could probably build a kart for about $500 - $600 I think
